Tumio is a pay-per-delivery service. Merchants prepay into a wallet and are charged per delivery created. Drivers are independent contractors and earn 60-75% of each delivery fee.
Tumio is not liable for packages that cannot be delivered due to incorrect addresses or unavailable recipients. Disputes are handled through the in-app support system.
By using Tumio you agree to these terms. For questions contact hello@tumio.africa.
Who is responsible for the goods at each stage of a Tumio delivery.
The merchant is fully responsible for the goods until the rider physically collects and signs for them. Any damage, loss, or issues occurring before pickup are the merchant's responsibility.
Responsibility transfers from the merchant to the rider at the moment the rider confirms pickup in the Tumio app by tapping "Confirm Pickup." The merchant must ensure goods are properly packaged before handover. The rider must inspect the package at pickup and flag any visible damage before confirming.
From the moment of pickup confirmation to delivery confirmation, the rider is responsible for the safe transport of the goods. Tumio provides liability coverage up to KSh 10,000 per delivery for loss or damage caused by the rider while in transit.
Responsibility transfers back to the customer at the moment the rider confirms delivery in the Tumio app by uploading a proof of delivery photo and tapping "Mark as Delivered." After this point neither Tumio nor the rider is liable for the goods.
If delivery cannot be completed, the rider remains responsible for the goods until they are returned to the merchant or deposited at an agreed location. The rider must not leave goods unattended.
Each delivery records timestamps for these transfer events in a "Responsibility Transfer" log visible to the merchant, rider, and Tumio admin team.
